
A son and daughter of former Bauchi State Deputy Governor Senator Baba Tela have died in a road accident.
Mustapha and Ummi died in the accident which occurred on Bauchi-Azare road on Saturday, while returning from Azare, the headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area.
It was reported that the two died on the spot, while other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries and were moved to a hospital in Bauchi where they are receiving medical attention.
The deceased were buried today Sunday after funeral prayers (janazah) attended by the Emir of Bauchi Rilwanu Adamu, former Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar, among hundreds of Muslims worshippers and sympathisers. The prayer took place at the Emir’s Palace, Bauchi.

In a condolence message, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said he “received the heartbreaking news with profound shock and sadness,” describing the unfortunate incident as a painful tragedy that has cast a shadow of grief over the entire state.
The governor said the loss of two young lives in such a tragic circumstance is not only a devastating blow to Senator Baba Tela and his immediate family but also a painful loss to the entire people of Bauchi State .
He prayed that the Almighty Allah (SWT), will grant the departed eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and give their parents, family members, friends, and all those affected the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear this big loss.
Governor Bala Mohammed, according to a statement by his spokesman Mukhtar Gidado, urged the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Almighty Allah, reminding them that every soul shall return to its Creator at the appointed time.
He assured Senator Baba Tela of the thoughts, prayers, and solidarity of the Government and people of Bauchi State during this difficult period.
In his own condolence message former Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar described the loss as heartbreaking and prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive their shortcomings, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort Senator Baba Tela, his family, and all those affected by the painful tragedy.
“As a mark of respect and solidarity, His Excellency attended the Janazah prayer, where he joined family members, friends, and sympathizers in offering prayers for the deceased,” according to a statement by Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, an aide of the former governor.
