The body of late Hajiya FADIMATU (aka Igen Maidoki), the mother of the Executive Chairman of Sokoto State Zakkat and Waqf Commission (SOZECOM), has been laid to rest.
Hajiya Fadimatu, a respected community leader and teacher, died at the age of 111 years after a protracted illness.
Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State and the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar were among dignitaries that attend d her funeral which took place at the Sultan Bello mosque near the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto Wednesday afternoon.
The late Hajiya Fadimatu hailed from the lineage of Ummarun Mu’alkammu (whose family still hold the title of Magajin Rafin Sokoto). Her father Malam Abdulkadir, also known as Jikan Bahago, was a renown Islamics scholar just like her mother Malama Yatu.
According to her grandson, Abdurraheem Lawal Maidoki, she left behind seven children amongst who are his father, the Executive Chairman of SOZECOM, Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sokoto).
The rest are: Malama Hauwa’u (aka Umma),
Malama Hadiza (aka ‘Yajjari), Malama Fadimatu (aka Rigo),, Malama Umaimatu,
Malama Hafsat and Malama Sa’adatu.
She also left behind more than 50 living grand children.
Gov. Tambuwal, the Sultan of Sokoto and cross-section of those at the funeral prayed to God for the repose of her soul while besieging HIM to grant her Jannatul Firdaus.
