Taraba monarch Aku Uka joins ancestors at 84

The Chairman, Taraba State Council of Traditional Rulers, and paramount ruler of Kwararafa, Aku Uka, Dr Shekarau Angyu Masa-Ibi Kuvyon II has joined his ancestors at the age of 84, multiple sources have said.

He was crowned Kuvyon II at Byepi, in 1976 as the 27th monarch of Kwararafa and the 13th from the founding of the Wukari Federation.

Dr Shekarau Angyu was born on 18 April 1937 to the family of Ashumanu II Angyu Masa Ibi, the 22nd Aku Uka who reigned from 1940 – 1945.

He was in July this year appointed as the Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) by the Federal Government.

The 40th anniversary of his ascendancy to the throne was marked on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 March 2017, at the Kwararafa University permanent site in Wukari.
