Terrorists kill 11 soldiers, 3 vigilantes in Kaduna

Terrorists, suspected to be Boko Haram members, have killed 11 soldiers and three vigilantes after a fierce battle at a military base near Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Dateline Nigeria learnt that the terrorists, riding on motorcycles and heavily armed, attacked the base at Polewire village on Monday.

”The troops came under attack from unknown number of terrorists some of them carrying Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and other sophisticated weaponss.

“The encounter lasted for about 2hours before the troops were dislodged by the terrorists. In the end 11 soldiers and three members of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) were killed, while 19 soldiers were wounded in action.

“An MRAP, 2 APCs, several guns including a GPMG and AK47 rifles, pump actions were missing.

“Those wounded were evacuated to the General Hospital Birnin Gwari, while some were stabilised at a NAF medical centre before being transferred to 44Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna.”

Dateline Nigeria reports that the military authorities were yet to commemt on the attack.
