Tinubu, Ambode meet as Sanwo-Olu hosts president

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, hosted President Bola Tinubu at the Lagos House, Marina.

Sanwo-Olu was joined by his predecessors, former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode.

This was the first time since Ambode left office in 2019 that all the four governors of the state since 1999 would be seen together at a public event.

The governor, in his speech, expressed his delight to welcome the President “to the place he (Tinubu) calls home.”

He lauded the President for the steps taken so far within his first 30 days in office, saying that it was indeed a season of “renewed hope.”

“I’m also proud to say that this is a tenure that began with a promise of change and within a short while, that change we’re beginning to see.

“Mr President, your ascension to the highest office in the land was greeted with great hope and high expectations…and I am proud to say that within a month you have indeed earned your position as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He expressed “heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all Lagosians” to the President and pledged that “Lagos is standing right behind you…we stand in solidarity with your leadership.”

Present at the event were the President’s wife, Oluremi; Vice President Kashim Shettima; Senate President Godswill Akpabio, among other dignitaries.
