Tinubu’s govt backs Kogi’s security summit, fundraiser

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to a comprehensive national security strategy that blends military action with community-driven solutions, as it threw its weight behind Kogi State’s high-level security summit in Abuja on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, represented Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Kogi State Security Summit and Fundraising held at the HQ NAF Officers’ Mess and Suites in Kado. He spoke on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ahmadu said the administration’s approach prioritizes both kinetic and non-kinetic interventions, while strengthening intelligence gathering, inter-agency coordination, and multi-level collaboration to protect lives, critical assets, and ensure lasting peace nationwide.

“The Federal Government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding Nigerians,” he said.

The minister praised Kogi State for its “strategic foresight” in convening the summit, stressing that modern security challenges cannot be tackled by government alone.

“Security is a shared responsibility. It depends on unity of purpose, institutional coordination, community engagement, and sustained stakeholder commitment,” Ahmadu stated, calling for a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach.

The summit drew significant participation from across the country, including seven state governors, Senator Abdulaziz Yari and other National Assembly members, as well as stakeholders from the security, political, and development sectors.

Kogi’s initiative comes as states increasingly take the lead in addressing local security threats, while aligning with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda on safety and stability.

The event also featured a fundraising component aimed at bolstering Kogi’s security architecture and community protection efforts.
