Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics courier, Yahaya Umar, along the Obajana-Lokoja road.
This is contained in a statement on Wednesday by Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army.
“The suspect was found with 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition concealed in a bag of maize,” the statement said.
Preliminary investigations revealed Umar was transporting the ammunition from Obajana Forest to Dikko Junction in Suleja, Niger State, for delivery to an unidentified terrorist.
He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to help dismantle the wider arms supply network.
The Army said the successes reflect its ongoing commitment to protecting lives and disrupting terrorist logistics across the North Central region, and urged the public to continue sharing credible security information.
