Turkey’s president Erdogan visits Saudi Arabia, performs lesser Hajj

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Masjid Al Haram, Makkah and performed Umrah along with his delegation today

Erdogan, who also prayed Voluntary Prayers inside the Holy Ka’bah, earlier arrived in Jeddah on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Erdogan was received by Makkah Emir Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, who’s also the advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Those who received the Turkish President also included the Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban, the Chargé d’Affairs at the Kingdom’s Embassy in Ankara Muhammad Al-Harbi, the Director of the Makkah Region Police Major General Saleh Al-Jabri, the Director of King Abdulaziz International Airport Issam Nour.

Speaking to reporters before his departure from Turkey, Erdogan said he believed increasing cooperation on health, energy, food security, defence industry and finance would be mutually beneficial to both countries.

The Turkish president said he will meet the country’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS), marking a turnaround in relations that had hit a low following the 2018 murder of a prominent Saudi critic at the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul, Aljazeera reported.
