UAE supports efforts of Nigerian Army Women Corps in peacekeeping

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Nigeria has handed over sets of support items to the Nigerian Army Women Corps to support their efforts in peacekeeping.

The UAE Ambassador to Nigeria Dr Fahad Al Taffaq presented the items as part of HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Peace and Security Initiative in coordination with UN Women, the country’s embassy said in a statement on Friday.

The event was attended by Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Major General Farouk Yahaya.

Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) recently launched the Fatima bint Mubarak Women, Peace and Security Centre of Excellence.

The launch of the Centre is in line with the goals of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Women, Peace and Security Initiative, a joint project with the General Women’s Union, with technical support from UN Women.
