University of Abuja VC Prof Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah launches three books

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, will on Wednesday 30th June 2021 launch three of his most recent books, namely: Seriya (2019), Omokewu (2020) and Yoruba Oral Tradition in Islamic Nigeria, A History of Dàdàkúàdá (2020).

Seriya and Omokewu are both plays which reflect the communal philosophy, discipline, and local upbringing of the playwright, and draw on the need to build a valid future for subsequent generations as well.

The book on Yoruba oral tradition locates the oral performance of Dàdàkúàdá genre of music within the Islamic Yoruba setting, and helps to fuse tradition, creativity and politics, thereby asserting the significance of the form.

The launching which will take place on the Main Campus of the University, will be chaired by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed.

The author, Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, is a professor of Comparative Literature. Born on 21st December 1962 in Ilorin, Kwara State, Professor Na’Allah is the author of over 25 books, chapters in books, and several scholarly works.

He is a reviewer for several national and international journals; and has published in reputable peer-reviewed journals as well as supervised several Ph.D candidates.

A well travelled academic, he has attended over 50 conferences within the country and abroad. Despite his busy schedule as vice-chancellor of the University of Abuja, he still finds time to write books.
