Western Nasarawa monarchs visit Gov Sule, endorse his preferred successor

Traditional rulers from Nasarawa State’s Western Senatorial District have paid a “Thank You” visit to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule at the Government House, Lafia, expressing appreciation for his support and for endorsing one of their sons as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Governor Sule recently declared Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (APC, Nasarawa West) as his chosen successor.

The monarchs, led by the Emir of Keffi, His Royal Highness Alh. Dr. Chindo Shehu Yamusa III, comprised graded chiefs from Toto, Keffi, Karu, Kokona, and Nasarawa local government areas.

It also included serving and former National Assembly members, past and present Speakers of the State House of Assembly, an ambassador from the zone, members of the State Executive Council from the area, and other political appointees.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the traditional rulers commended the governor for what they described as his recognition of the Western zone in his succession plan.

They noted that his decision to “anoint” a son of the area reflects confidence in the district’s contribution to the state’s development and unity.

The Emir of Keffi, who led the delegation, played a central role in presenting the group’s appreciation, underscoring the significance of the royal institution’s backing for the governor’s political direction in the zone.

The visit signals growing consolidation of support for the governor’s 2027 transition plan within the Western Senatorial District, a key political bloc in Nasarawa State.
