Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has banned night clubs and street prostitution on Abacha road and other major streets across the state.
Wike made the announcement in his New Year message.
The governor said such activities constitute noise and traffic nuisance in the state.

He said no responsible government would tolerate the open display of sexual party, street prostitution, drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
Wike also placed a ban on night time trading along Abacha road, street prostitution, adding that it is geared towards putting an end to the harmful effect on the development of children and the state at large.
He urged residents to obey the directives as anyone found wanting will be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the state.
