Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has ordered sealing of the campaign office of presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The building was sealed by Rivers State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development over what it described as environmental pollution, according to a statement on Friday by the government.
“The campaign office was sealed for producing noisy political activities in residential areas without the state’s approval.
“The office, located at the the D/Line Port Harcourt, was sealed off for producing noisy political activities in residential areas without approval from the state government,” the statement said
It added that the activities at the campaign office were in breach of Executive Orders 21 and 22 signed into law by Wike.
Wike had earlier while commissioning the dualised Sakpewa-Ogoni road he built in Ogoniland, slammed Senator Lee Maeba, the Chairman of Atiku Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State.
He accused Maeba of not attracting development to his area in Ogoniland.
