Yobe health commissioner harps on synergy between NHIS and YSCHMA

Yobe State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, has called for more collaboration and synergy between the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Yobe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency.

The commissioner made spoke when the NHIS Yobe State Coordinator, Alh Dabo I. Abdullahi and his staff paid him a courtesy visit in Damaturu.

He said, “If I have the opportunity I will house you and the state agency in the same place, because you were all established for the same purpose.

“That is why the NHIS Executive Secretary, Professor Muhammed Nasiru Sambo has always been emphasising the issue of “Health Insurance In One Roof (HIOR) because it is the only way we can archive Universal Health Coverage.”

The NHIS coordinator earlier said “We are here in order to boost our working relationship and to discuss on how we can ensure effective delivery of health care services in the state through Social Health Insurance.”

He highlited some of the archievements of NHIS in the state which include the technical support to the state agency.

The coordinator said NHIS had contributed towards the successful take off of the state agency as well as it’s commencement of the Formal Sector Social Health Insurance Program me and Basic Healthcare Provision Fund Programme.

He also said NHIS had accredited/reaccredited Various Primary and Secondary Health Care facilities in the state.

In the coordinator’s team there were Alh Abubakar Uthman (Programmes), Dr. Salisu Hassan (Enlightenment), and Dr. Auwal Ibrahim (Standard and Quality Assurance). Others are Pharmacist Maina, Dr. Dasuma Ahmed and Adamu Muhammed Daya.
