Yobe’s Zainab Gambo emerges 2022 Maltina ‘Best Teacher’

  • Gov’t announces 7th November for commissioning of Mega Schools

Mrs Zainab Gambo, a class teacher with Federal Government College Buniyadi, Yobe State, has emerged 2022 Maltina “Best Teacher” of the year.

Gambo is the first teacher to receive such prestigious award in the history of Yobe State.

She clinched the award ahead of over 1027 entries in the first round reaching up to the finall round of 10 champions.

She passed all the requirements including assessments and interviews by esteemed panel of judges who determine the eventual winner of this year’s edition of the competition.

Receiving the State champion in his office in Damaturu, the Yobe State Commissioner Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Sani Idriss applauded Gambo for being the first teacher in Yobe to bring such national honor of such competition in the state.

He said teachers like Zainab Gambo will continue to make Yobe state proud and keeping the flag of education in the state flying.

“Maltina Teacher of the Year competition is a platform created to identify, showcase, and reward exceptional teachers in both public and private secondary schools across the country.

” It is funded by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, which was set up in 1994 towards advancing the quality of education at all levels in Nigeria in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, SDG No.4.”

In her votes of thanks, the champion Zainab Gambo express delight and appreciation for the reception accorded to her by the ministry of education.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the ministry in collaboration with Yobe State Universal Basic Education (Yobe SUBEB) has work out modalities for the opening of Mega Schools constructed by Governor Buni administration.

He said the newly constructed Mega and International schools will be opened on the 7th of November, 2022.

According to him, the state Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni CON places premium on basic and secondary education from the first day of assumption of his office.

He said, Yobe state used to be at the bottom of the educational ladder but with the advent of the present administration, the situation is changing for the better.

Dr. Sani Idris therefore appreciated all teachers in the state who are doing their best in revitalising the educational sector by making sure that students becomes better citizens.
