Former Sokoto State governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Attahiru Bafarawa, has expressed sadness over comments made by the Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai that there are no elders left in northern Nigeria.
Bafarawa described the comment as an affront to the North, adding that it was unpleasant for El-Rufai to categorise all as bad eggs, insisting that there were good ones.
The former governor was reacting to the Kaduna State governor’s comment in his interview with the BBC.
El-Rufai had alleged that there were some elements sabotaging their party, the All Progressives Congress, under the guise of new naira notes so that they won’t win the 2023 general elections.
“He was insisting that Tinubu must win the election and that whether people like it or not, they have already won. Who told him that the whole of the North is supporting the APC?
“This is just his opinion; in that case, he has no right to insist for the North because everybody has his candidate. The way he is campaigning for Tinubu is how we are campaigning for our candidate.
“We will shock them, we will make them understand that this country belongs to nobody, likewise the North.”
