Yobe Imam urges politicians and wealthy individuals to enrol orphans in GIFSHIP

Politicians and wealthy individuals have been urged to sponsor the enrollment of orphans and poor people into the Group Individual and Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA)

The Chief Imam, Yobe State Islamic Centre and Chairman Yobe State Council of Imams Ustaz Hudu Muhammad Yusuf made the call after the Jumaat prayer when NHIA officials visited the mosque for sensitization.

The Chief Imam, who is also the Ciroman Potiskum, said Almighty Allah loves those who assist the needy and orphans. He told the story of a prostitute who will enter paradise for assisting a cat.

The Deputy Imam of the mosque Gwani Algoni Kamsulum said from the beneficiaries’ testimony “this programme, no doubt, is a laudable one”.

Dr. Salisu Hassan, who represented the NHIA Yobe State Coordinator Alh.Mansur Akilu, appreciated the cooperation and support that the Authority has been receiving from the religious leaders in the State.

He pointed out the significant role they usually perform to the NHIA in mobilizing the people about its various programmes.

In a related development, the State Coordinator Malam Mansur Akilu was also at the Salaffiya Juma’at mosque for the GIFSHIP sensitization .

In his brief remarks, he said the GIFSHIP is the fastest way of ensuring the enrollment of every body without any discrimination of trade, profession or class.

He said the programme is designed to accommodate those who are not enrolled in the other programmes.
