Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have once again taken to the streets of central London, marching from Park Lane to Westminster, demanding a permanent ceasefire in the conflict.
Many are draped in flags, chanting “Free Palestine”. Emotions are running high, with few believing the temporary truce will turn into anything longer lasting.
There is a big police presence along the route of the demonstration – with some officers handing out leaflets warning that support for Hamas or hatred towards any religion will not be tolerated.
The organisers of the march told me they didn’t think that was necessary, saying they had already made it clear that they stood against racism in all its forms.
The Met says two people were arrested for supporting a proscribed organisation and four people staffing a stall distributing literature featuring a swastika inside a Star of David have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred. (BBC)
