The Malam Dikko Umaru Radda led Katsina State Government has disbursed the sum of N832,721,954 to 331 residents and business owners whose properties were affected by the construction of the new Kofar Soro to Kofar Guga dual carriage road in the state capital.
The Commissioner of Lands and Physical Planning, Dr Faisal Kaita, handed out the cheques to the beneficiaries, accordingto a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
The compensation is in recognition of the economic hardship faced by many and to ensure that those affected have the resources they need to relocate and rebuild their livelihoods.
Dr Faisal said “The swift disbursement of compensation clearly demonstrates the unwavering dedication of the Radda-led administration in upholding the welfare and rights of the affected individuals.
“This timely action ensures the provision of a conducive environment for them to vacate the premises prior to the commencement of the project.”
Recall that on March 13, 2024, Governor Radda graced the groundbreaking ceremony of the 1.5-kilometer dual-carriage road, stretching from Kofar Soro to Kofar Guga, along with another 0.2-kilometer road between Galadanci to Hassan Usman Katsina House, down to the Central Police Station.
The aim, he said, is to significantly improve traffic flow and safety in the Katsina metropolis.
