Nigerians react as Mali names Ribadu’s lookalike as prime minister

Nigerians have taken to their social media handles comment on Mali’s new Prime Minister Moctar Ouane for his striking resemblance to Nigeria’s former anti-corruption tsar Nuhu Ribadu.

Ouane, 64, was named on Sunday by Mali’s transitional president retired Col. Maj. Bah N’Daw who was himself inducted on Friday.

Col. Assimi Goita, head of the junta that staged the coup, was installed as Mali’s new vice president. The three government heads are to lead the transitional government to an election in 18 months.

Richard Silas said “When I saw the picture I thought BBC made a mistake by using Ribadu’s picture. They really look alike.”

Another Nigerian, Aliyu Shuabu, commenting on twitter, simply described the new Mali PM as Nuhu Ribadu’s senior brother.

“Ribadu really needs to see this man,” said Elizabeth S. on her social media handle.

According to researchers, the chances of finding an exact look-alike are slim. But the likelihood of meeting someone with relatively similar features is much higher
