
The College for Qur’anic Science and Islamic Studies of a reknown Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has been gutted by fire at Rafin Albasa in Bauchi State.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident devastated the college
storey buildings, destroyed offices, classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, libraries as well as a staff room on the upper floor of the school.
The inferno, which cause is yet to be ascertained, destroyed clothing materials, mattresses, blankets and other valuable belongings of staff and students.
The Director General of Education Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation Sayyadi Aliyu Sise Dahiru, spoke to journalists when he conducted them round the School commiserated with the Staff and students of the College.
He expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah as there was no loss of life, and no student sustained any injury.
The Director General said: “College was established by Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, and it was affiliated with All Azhar University Cairo, and it was commissioned by the former Vice President Muhammad Namadi Sambo.
“The college offers western education side-by-side islamic education as well as entrepreneural skills, to its students to make them productive members of the society.
“We thank the Almighty Allah the incident happened after school hours in the evening. We thank the men of the State Fire Service that spent over three hours before they put off the fire.”
He said books that belonged to Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Late Dr Hadi Sheikh Dahiru, late Ahmad Sheikh Dqahiru and many Islamic Scholars were destroyed in the inferno.
The Director of the State Fire Service who spoke through Moh’d LAbubakar said “as a result of the incident, the fire burnt the school properties and valuable documents which include: Library books about 5,000, students mattresses 250, beds 250, carpet 355 metres, wardrobes/lockers 24, students chairs 300, students food stuffs in the store Rice- 60 bags, Beans 25 Bags, Palm oil-12 Jerrican, Groundnut oil 13 Jerrican, Maggie/onga/Salt 15Catoons, Mats 43, Robber kettle 150, Students cloths 1,583, students writing and text books 7,228, students plates 317, teachers cloths 89, handsets three, students credentials”
