
Saudi Arabian authorities have stopped popular Nigerian cleric Dr Ahmad Gumi from enteing the country to perform this year’s Hajj.
Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi was among the Ulama team of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Dateline Nigeria learnt.
But after arriving in Madina aboard an Umza aircraft on Saturday around 10:30pm, the Saudi authorities stopped him from entering along with the rest of his team members, even though he was earlier granted Hajj visa.
Sheikh Gumi, who disclosed this on his Facebook page on Monday, said he was denied entry because of his views about global politics.
“For some obvious reasons, my views about the world politics, the Saudi authorities are uncomfortable about my presence in Hajj after giving me the Hajj Visa.
“Thanks to the Nigerian authorities who have pledged to take up the matter immediately with Saudi authorities. That is the value of our cherished freedom and democracy.
“I’m now free to attend to my health and farming activities. We should continue to pray for the safe return of all pilgrims, peace and prosperity for our dear nation,” Gumi posted.
The cleric, in the post titled “My Hajj 2025!”, said “Alhamdulillahi I’ve already completed my Hajj 2025 and I’m at home in our beloved country Nigeria. Allah said “And accomplish the Hajj i.e pilgrimage and the Umra for Allah, but if, you are prevented, (slaughter) the offering available with you. (meaning, you are then free from Hajj or Umra).
