Three Kaduna reps dump PDP for APC

Three members of the House of Representatives from Kaduna State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The three members are: Abdulkarim Ahmed (Kaduna South), Aliyu Mustapha (Ikara/Kubau), and Sadiq Ango-Abdullahi (Sabon Gari).

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read the dedection letters during Tuesday’s plenary.

The three members cited “the lingering crisis in the PDP” and the need to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu as reasons for switching their political platforms.

In a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Makera Ward, Kaduna South Local Government Area, Ahmed expressed his decision to resign from the party:

“The constant internal conflicts and factionalism within the PDP, which have culminated in a prolonged party crisis, are undesirably impacting my ability to effectively represent my constituency and fulfill my obligations optimally.

“In view of this enduring situation, and after wide consultations with my constituents, key stakeholders, and political allies, I have come to the tough but necessary decision to resign my membership of the PDP.

“This decision is driven by my commitment to continue serving the good people of Kaduna South Federal Constituency, beyond partisan lines, ensuring that all my constituents benefit from purposeful, inclusive, and effective representation.

“I sincerely thank the PDP for the privilege and opportunity to serve under its platform.

“The support, trust, and experiences I have gained during my time with the party were priceless, and I am very grateful to the leadership and members at all levels.

“While thanking you for your support, please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who was at the sitting, formally welcomed the three members, adding that “their decision to join our esteemed party reflects a profound recognition of the inclusive, people-centered governance that our administration has steadfastly pursued in Kaduna State.

“Moreover, it underscores their confidence in the visionary Renewed Hope Agenda articulated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which continues to inspire transformative leadership across our nation.

“On behalf of the APC’s leadership and membership, I extend a heartfelt welcome to Hon. Abdulkareem Ahmed (Kaduna South), Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau), and Hon. Sadiq Ango Abdullahi (Sabon Gari). We pledge our unwavering support as they seamlessly integrate into our progressive family.”
