Customs seizes foreign rice, other smuggled items worth N360.2m

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operation Unit Zone B in Kaduna, jas paraded smuggled items worth N360.2m seized by its officers.

Presenting a record of its
stewardship in the last 40 days, Comptroller Mustapha Sarkin-Kebbi displayed the seized items which include 155 parcels of Indian hemp, and 3,342 bags of 50kg foreign Rice criminally re-bagged with Made in Nigeria local bags.

Also seized are 34 motor vehicles and other contraband items in various locations within the Zone.

“The duty paid value (DPV) of items presented stood at N360,227,250.00,” the Comptroller said.

He assured Nigerians that the Unit will not relent in its effort to rid the zone of all smuggling activities.

The Federal Operation Unit comprises 10 states within the North-West and North-Central geopolitical zones with Kaduna as its administrative Headquarters.
