Kano police arrest six suspected thieves, hand over recovered tricycles to owners

The Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspects involved in a case of criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.

The first five suspects, identified as Salim Zakari ‘M’, 20 years old, Faruk Abubakar ‘M’, 17 years old, Yusuf Garba ‘M’, 20 years old, Mastur Shehu ‘M’, 19 years old, and Safiyanu Suleiman ‘M’, 23 years old, were arrested following a report by Ayuba Muhammad, who alleged that his tricycle was stolen at Panshekara Quarters, Kano, on January 24, 2026, at about 1430 hours.

The stolen tricycle, with Registration Number BBR 195 CB and KAROTA Number KMC 1229, valued at ₦3,500,000.00, was sold to Umar Bello Dahiru ‘M’, 24 years old, for ₦2,600,000.00.

The suspects further confessed to stealing another tricycle at the residence of Abdullahi Adamu ‘M’ of Yankusa Quarters, Kano, which was sold to Umar Bello Dahiru ‘M’ for ₦2,700,000.00.

Discreet investigation led to the arrest of the sixth suspect, Umar Bello Dahiru, where the two tricycles were recovered from him. Also, a horse valued at ₦800,000.00 bought with the proceeds of the crime by the principal suspects was recovered.

Umar Bello Dahiru confessed to buying the tricycles knowing they were stolen.

The recovered tricycles have been handed over to the owners, Ayuba Muhammad and Abdullahi Adamu. Investigations are ongoing.
