The Federal Government has pledged full support for the 2026 edition of the “Let There Be Teachers” Conference, a national initiative targeting the mobilisation of 200,000 teachers across the 36 states and the FCT to advance systemic education reforms.
The commitment was made by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, during a courtesy visit by the Convener, Mr. Oluwaseyi Anifowose, to the Ministry.
The Minister described the initiative as a bold effort to elevate the teaching profession and reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving teacher quality under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He emphasised that no education system can rise above the quality of its teachers.
As part of ongoing reforms, the Ministry has launched a zero-rated digital platform for continuous professional development and announced that, from 2026, the Federal Government will assume responsibility for license fees payable to the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria for public school teachers.
Building on the 2025 Guinness World Record milestone, the 2026 conference aims to transition from symbolic achievement to measurable reform outcomes nationwide.
