I visited the Kafin Duguri community in Alkaleri Local Government Area following the tragic bandit attack that claimed the lives of four residents of Kafin Duguri.
It was a painful and deeply unfortunate incident, especially as it happened in my home area of Duguri. I met with grieving families and community members to share in their sorrow and to assure them that they are not alone in this difficult time.
I conveyed the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the affected families and informed them that I had personally briefed him in Abuja. The President has assured us of the Federal Government’s support to strengthen security and prevent further attacks.
While Bauchi State has made significant progress in curbing banditry across Toro, Ningi, Ganjuwa, and Jama’are, the renewed attacks around Duguri are a serious concern that demands urgent and decisive action.
I commend the bravery of our local vigilantes and residents who confronted over 100 armed bandits on motorcycles and forced them to retreat. Their courage is a testament to the resilience of our people.
My administration will continue working closely with federal security agencies and our traditional institutions to reinforce protection in vulnerable communities. We have already requested additional security personnel and operational equipment to strengthen our response capacity.
Security is a shared responsibility. I urge all residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements to security agencies, as community cooperation is critical in addressing insecurity.
We will not relent in our commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring lasting peace across our state.
