The Kano State Police Command has rescued a 2-year-old boy unharmed and arrested three suspected kidnappers in a sustained intelligence-led operation in Gwammaja Quarters, Dala Local Government Area.
The child, Aliyu Aliyu Muhammad, was abducted on April 19, 2026, in front of his family’s residence by unknown persons who later demanded a ₦1 million ransom. The family paid the ransom, but the suspects failed to release the boy.
Following the report, Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to mobilize all operational and technical assets. The team traced the suspects to their hideout and effected the arrest.
The suspects — Hassan Umar, 26; Abdullahi Hamisu, 19; and Hussaini Saminu, 24 — all residents of Gwammaja Quarters, were apprehended at the location where the child was being held captive at Saminu’s residence.
The victim was found unhurt and has since been reunited with his family. Police also recovered ₦930,000, part of the ransom paid.
CP Bakori commended the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for its professionalism and tactical precision, and acknowledged the technical support of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which he said was instrumental to the operation’s success.
He warned that Kano State would remain hostile ground for criminal elements and pledged that the Command would continue to deploy all lawful means to arrest and prosecute offenders.
The Commissioner also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
He encouraged the public to support the police with credible information via the Command’s emergency lines: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
The suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
