FCCPC seals Abuja estate over alleged non-delivery of paid-for homes

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed Paradise Estate in Abuja following complaints from buyers who allege they paid in full but have not received the promised homes.

The Commission said the action was taken after it reviewed multiple petitions accusing the estate developers of failing to deliver housing units despite completed payments.

According to FCCPC, consumer protection extends beyond retail transactions to major financial commitments such as housing, where Nigerians often invest their life savings based on developers’ promises.

“The Commission maintains that businesses must not make promises they cannot fulfil,” FCCPC stated. “Where payment has been received, agreed timelines must be honoured, delays properly explained, and lawful remedies provided where obligations are unmet.”

The agency emphasized that confidence in the housing market depends on transparency, honest communication, proper documentation, and delivery in line with contractual commitments.

FCCPC urged affected buyers to submit relevant documents, including proof of payment and correspondence, through its complaints portal at http://complaints.fccpc.gov.ng as it continues its investigation.

The move is part of the Commission’s broader mandate to hold businesses accountable and protect consumers from misleading practices in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
