Dangote Group says crashes involving its trucks nationwide have dropped by 56% following a safety system review conducted by the Federal Road Safety Corps in September 2025.
The company gave the commendation during an appreciation visit to the FRSC National Headquarters on Monday.
Head of Transport, Mr. Murillo Silva, and his team met with Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed to acknowledge the impact of the Corps’ Safety System Gap Analysis on Dangote Cement Transport operations.
Silva said FRSC and Dangote Group share a common goal of making the transport sector safer, and that the partnership was already producing measurable results.
He added that the intervention had repositioned the Dangote fleet toward becoming a model for fleet management and road safety compliance in Africa, according to a statement Tuesday by Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC Headquarters, Abuja.
The FRSC Gap Analysis identified critical lapses including speed limiter violations, poor driver rest management, overloading, weak safety monitoring systems, and high crash exposure linked to human factors.
After implementing the Corps’ recommendations, comparative data showed significant improvements between Q1 2025 and Q1 2026. Crashes fell from 25 to 11, a 56% reduction. Fatal crashes declined by 36%, while injuries dropped 52% from 89 to 42. Deaths from crashes fell 60%, from 35 in Q1 2025 to 14 in Q1 2026.
Corps Marshal Mohammed described the outcome as proof that strategic partnerships, data-driven interventions, and institutional collaboration are critical to improving road safety. He commended Dangote for embracing professional scrutiny and implementing key reforms, saying sustained compliance could make the company one of the safest fleet operators in Africa.
He urged other fleet operators to adopt similar proactive safety measures to reduce crashes and raise standards on Nigerian roads.
