
The Federal Ministry of Regional Development on Tuesday convened a high-level interactive meeting with chairmen of the Regional Development Commissions to strengthen collaboration and set strategic priorities for nationwide development.
The meeting, held at the Minister’s Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat Phase I, Abuja, was attended by Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Regional Development; H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Minister of State for Regional Development; Dr. Mary Adah Ogbe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; and other senior officials.
Chairmen present included Chief Emeka Wogu of the South East Development Commission, SEDC, and Alh. Lawal Samaila Yakawada of the North West Development Commission, NWDC.

According to Minister of State Uba Maigari Ahmadu, the engagement focused on “strengthening collaboration and addressing strategic development priorities” to enhance the effectiveness of the Regional Development Commissions.

Discussions centered on delivering sustainable infrastructure, driving economic growth, and promoting inclusive development across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
The meeting signals renewed federal efforts to align the mandates of the regional commissions with national development goals, amid calls for faster delivery of projects in roads, power, agriculture, and job creation at the regional level.
The Ministry did not disclose specific resolutions from the session, but officials said the interactive format will be sustained to improve coordination between the ministry and the commissions.
