Kaduna 2027: Uba Sani picks Jerry Adams as running mate

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has nominated Mr. Jerry Adams as his running mate for the 2027 Governorship Election.

The Governor announced the nomination on Tuesday, saying the decision followed “wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers.”

According to him, the choice goes beyond the selection of a deputy governorship candidate.

“It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023; the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging,” Sani said.

Describing Kaduna as a state blessed with diversity of faiths, ethnicities and cultures, the Governor said that diversity is the state’s greatest strength.

He noted that his administration has, for more than three years, worked to heal old wounds and ensure that dividends of democracy reach all 23 Local Government Areas through investments in roads, schools, hospitals, water supply, agriculture, and social protection.

“We have deliberately ensured that no community should be left behind and no citizen should feel excluded,” he said.

Speaking on his choice of running mate, Governor Sani described Adams as “an accomplished public servant, an outstanding tax administrator and an institution builder” who transformed the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service into one of Nigeria’s most respected revenue agencies.

He said through innovation, transparency and professionalism, Adams helped strengthen the state’s fiscal capacity, enabling increased investment in education, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture.

“Beyond his impressive professional accomplishments, Jerry Adams is a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength. He has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance,” the Governor added.

Sani urged citizens to view the 2027 election “not through the narrow prism of religion, ethnicity or geography, but through the broader vision of the Kaduna we are building together; a Kaduna where every child can dream without fear, every community can flourish, every faith is respected and every citizen has an equal stake in our common future.”

He said the work of building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna is not yet complete, but expressed optimism that together, his administration would hand over to future generations “a State that is more united, more secure, more just and more prosperous than we inherited.”

Mr. Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, currently serves as the head of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service.
