The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers during coordinated intelligence-led raids conducted within the state.
The suspects are: Umar Rabiu (Sarka) ‘m’ age 22years of Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad ‘m’ age 25years of Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu ‘m’ age 25years of Kuka village.
The operations, which form part of the Command’s ongoing crackdown on the sale, distribution, and abuse of illicit substances, led to the recovery of 5,676 pieces of assorted suspected illicit drugs from the suspects.
Items recovered include Exol: 3,833; Tramadol: 204; Diazzepam: 919; Pregabalin: 114; Rubber solution: 101; Lara capsules: 30; Codeine syrup; Suck and Die: two liters; dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (Cannabis sativa): one block and 475 wraps.
The operatives also recovered the sum of N93,626.00, reasonably believed to be proceeds from the illicit drug trade.
The Commissioner of Police, commended the operatives for their professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering commitment in disrupting the activities of criminal elements involved in drug trafficking.
He reiterated that the abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotic substances remain major drivers of violent crimes and social vices, particularly among the youth.
The Commissioner further warned individuals engaged in the sale, distribution, or consumption of prohibited drugs to desist or face the full weight of the law, emphasizing that the Command will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling drug networks and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
The suspects have been arraigned in court.
