NDLEA Kano dislodges six drug hotspots, arrests 15, recovers illicit substances

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command has successfully dislodged six notorious drug joints across the Kano metropolis, resulting in the arrest of 15 suspects and the seizure of assorted illicit substances.

The targeted operations were conducted at Farm Centre, Kofar Nasarawa, Diga Nasarawa, Dakata (Zango), Filin Polo and Hausawa. Recovered items include varying quantities of Cannabis sativa, pentazocine injections, pregabalin and Exol-5 tablets.

The Commander of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, said the raids stemmed from an intelligence assessment of areas long associated with drug trafficking and abuse.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to sustaining pressure on drug hotspots within Kano and beyond,” the Commander said.

“While we continue to employ targeted enforcement operations, we are also intensifying non-kinetic strategies — including public sensitisation and community partnerships — to address the root causes of substance abuse.”

Commander Lawal warned those involved in the illicit trade that they will not be allowed to operate with impunity. “All those engaged in this illicit business will never see peace unless they repent and embrace legitimate enterprise,” he stated.

All suspects are currently in NDLEA custody and will be processed in line with extant laws while investigations continue.

The Command calls on members of the public to support ongoing efforts by providing information and intelligence that can help locate and dismantle other drug networks.
