A man who was kidnapped when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle near the Rigasa train station in Kaduna two weeks ago has been killed even as a ransom of N1.5m was paid to secure his release.
Sani Khalil Rigasa was declared missing after the attack, in which Rabiu Auwal was killed and Umar El-khaddab Arewa injured. The three were reportedly returning from Rigachukun when the incident happened.
The kidnappers had earlier demanded N10m ransom but Rigasa’s family and associates could only raise N1.5m, Dateline Nigeria learnt.
Mohammed Jalal said “Sani Khalil Rigasa was killed by his abductors after keeping him for about two weeks and collecting ransome. This nefarious act effectively makes his family and dependents orphans. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and may every killer never know peace in their life. Ameen. I’m deeply torched!”
