Tense situation at the US Capitol Hill after protesters stormed parts of the building.
The protesters are reported to have invaded the Statuary Hall of the US Congress, with tear gas reportedly fired. Reporters described the situation as “unprecedented and dangerous”.
The Capitol police have reportedly called for reinforcement.
The protest is believed to have been called by President Donald Trump at the time the congress performs the constitutional process of certifying the presidential election.

There are reporters that police deployment was inadequate at stopping the protesters.
Lawmakers have been asked to cover themselves and other congressional staff ordered to hide in their offices.
