The Kaduna State Water Corporation (KADSWAC) has recalled the 286 workers it sacked last month following labour’s intervention, Dateline Nigeria has learnt.
Sources said the Kaduna State Government had to rescind its decision when reminded of the agreement it had with workers.
“Based on the agreement we had with the government, no worker should be sacked without being paid his entitlements. So since the government couldn’t pay off the sacked workers, it had no option than to rescind its decision,” one of the sources said.
One of the affected workers told Dateline Nigeria that though they have been recalled, they were given some conditions to fulfil before receiving salary.
“They said we should present evidence of Covid-19 vaccination for us to be reabsorbed,” he said.
KADSWAC had in a letter titled ‘Termination of Appointment’ signed by its Managing Director/CEO Sanusi A. S. Maikudi, said the affected workers had to go for services no longer required.
“Due to the re-structuring being carried out in the Kaduna State Water Corporation, we are sorry to inform you that, your services are no longer required and thererore your appointment at Kaduna State water Corporation is hereby terminated with immediate effect.
“You are to be paid One (1) month salary in lieu of notice of Termination of your Appointment.
“You are expected to submit all KADSWAC’s property in your possession to the SBU Manager immediately.
“The Corporation wishes you good luck in your future endeavors,” one of the termination letters seen by Dateline Nigeria reads.
