The Senate on Tuesday received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm five nominees as Commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).
The confirmation request was contained in a letter dated December 10, 2021, and read on the floor during the start of plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The letter reads in part, “In accordance with the provision of Section 154 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), I hereby forward for confirmation, by the Senate, the under-listed nominees as Commissioners in the National Population Commission.”
The nominees are Engineer Benedict Ukpong (Akwa Ibom), Mrs. Gloria Izonfo (Bayelsa), Barr. Patricia O. Inyanya Kupuchi (Benue), Dr. Bala Haliru (Kebbi) and Dr. Eyitayo Oyetunji (Oyo).
