- Former Zamfara deputy governor among the injured
A yet to be ascertained number of passengers have been abducted by gunmen who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday around 8pm.
A former deputy governor of Zamfara State Ibrahim Wakkala is also said to be among the passengers shot by the gunmen, but he is responding to treatment.

One of the passengers also told the BBC that some people were also killed by the gunmen who opened fire after blowing up the rail tracks between Dutse and Kakau train stations, about 30 minutes ride from the train’s final destination in Rigasa.
“After exchange of gunfire between the bandits and the security agents inside the train, the former were overpowered. But the gunmen still kidnapped some passengers and shot many others. I also saw some dead bodies,” he said, adding that he saw some women being taken away.
This is the second time the railway has been attacked in the last six months and at the same spot.
