One of the abducted passengers of the Kaduna-Abuja train and son of the Convener of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Ango Abdullahi, has won the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency.
Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, who is still being held along with more than 60 others by the terrorists that abducted them, was earlier screened and cleared on May 17 to take part in the exercise.

According to the results of the exercise, Sadiq Ango, also a son of late Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan (Mama Taraba), clinched 28 votes to defeat his closest rival Salisu Abdulhamid who had six votes. A third aspirant Hadiza Muhammad withdrew from the race at the last minute.
Ango was also formerly a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before he defected to the PDP in February this year.
There were reports in the media earlier suggesting that he had been released by the terrorists, but his father has since dismissed it as untrue.
