Buhari summons emergency security meeting, postpones commissioning of NASENI complex

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday meet with security chiefs in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to further review and strengthen security network in the country.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

“The President, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, will receive briefs from the security chiefs, and interject on areas that need more attention.

“The commissioning of the NASENI complex will hold on a later date,” Shehu said.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the emergency security meeting called by President Buhari is coming few days after the United States issued a security alert to its citizens, alleging elevated risk of attack in Abuja.

Nigetia has since dismissed the alert, saying its security forces are on top of the sotuation.
