An All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant in Kaduna State, Haliru Ibrahim, has died of heart attack, Dateline Nigeria has learnt.
Ibrahim, who held the titles of Galadima Auchan and Magajin Rinji, died on Monday few minutes after slumping during an Ikara stakeholders meeting at the Lugard Hall in Kaduna.
His janaza (funeral prayer) is scheduled to hold today Tuesday by 9am at Rinji, Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The late Ibrahim came second in the senatorial primaries of the APC in Zone 1, Kaduna. But he went to court to challenge the results of the primaries which gave victory to incumbent Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari.
Reacting to the death, a journalist, Nuhu Basheer Masa, said “Life is unpredictable. We spoke on phone this morning. They also had a meeting of Ikara Local Government stakeholders. While exchanging views with the chairman of Ikara LG and others, he just slumped.
“But he still managed to get back on his feet, opened his car and gave the key to our friend Suleiman Abdul Yakasai to take him to a nearby hospital. On arrival at the hospital, he was attended to by a doctor and even placed on drip. Few minutes after, he gave up.”
