After sacking Bello Kirfi, Bauchi emir names Ahmed Kari as new Waziri

The Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu has named Alhaji Muhammad Uba Ahmed Kari as the new Waziri of Bauchi Emirate.

This is coming 48 hours after the removal of Alhaji Muhammad Bello Kirfi for alleged disrespect and disloyalty to Governor Bala Mohammed and Bauchi State government.

A statement on Thursday signed by the Information Officer of the Bauchi Emirate Council, Babangida Hassan Jahun, said the turbaning ceremony of the new Waziri would be performed Friday (today) by the Emir of Bauchi.

“The Bauchi Emirate Council fondly request the company of relatives, friends and well-wishers to the turbaning ceremony of the new Waziri of Bauchi, Alhaji Muhammad Uba Kari on 6th January, 2023 at 11:00am at the Emir’s Palace, Bauchi,” the statement said.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the sacking Kirfi, an ally of former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, has led to the resignation of his daughter Saadatu Kirfi from her position as a commissioner in Bauchi.

A Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hassanu Yunusa Guyaba, and the Deputy State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Hadith, have also resigned their appointment allegedly over the same issue.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Kirfi, a Minister of Special Duties during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, was in 2017 suspended from his position as a Senior Councilor in the Bauchi Emirate Council by then Governor Mohammed Abubakar.

He was however reinstated as Waziri in August 2020 by the Bala Mohammed administration. But relationship between Bala and Kirfi soured over the latter’s support for Atiku.
