‘A lot has to change at Barcelona’ – Messi

Barcelona lost their La Liga title on the night their 30-game unbeaten home run in the league came to an end.

Lionel Messi showed his frustration after Barcelona lost 2-1 at home to Osasuna on Thursday night, while Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-1 to become LaLiga Santander champions.

The Barcelona captain recognized that things have not gone well this season and, as such, things need to change.

“Roma, Liverpool… the fans are running out of patience because we’re not giving them anything,” Messi said post-match.

“If we want to fight for the Champions League, a lot has to change.

“Like this, we will lose to Napoli.

“I said a while back it would be difficult to win the Champions League; we didn’t even have enough to win LaLiga…”

When asked about Real Madrid, the Argentine was accepting in defeat.

“Madrid did their thing,” Messi recognised.

“After the break they haven’t lost a match.

“We lost a lot of points that we shouldn’t have given up and we have to be self-critical, starting with the players, but also everyone.

“We are Barcelona and we are obliged to win every match.”

There is a lot of anger at the Camp Nou, amongst the players but also the supporters, and Messi discussed this.

“The people at the club are very angry and it’s normal because we’re angry too,” he said.

“People are running out of patience and it’s normal because we haven’t given them anything.”
