The renowned Kano businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, Chairman A.A Rano Group of Companies, has pledged to build a brand new female hostel in the Federal University Dutse.
He disclosed this at his head office in Kano when he hosted the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Dutse, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, accompanied by some members of the university management.
Alhaji Rano who congratulated the VC on his appointment, commended the immediate past VC of FUD, Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar for her commitment and dedication to the service of the University which made her to reach out to people like him to do something for the institution.

He said the former VC did wonderfully well, and he prayed that Allah grant professor Abdulkarim more success than his predecessor.
The business mogul said it is good that the VC is going out to meet those who can help the university because government can no longer shoulder the responsibility of funding education alone. He told the VC and his team that by God grace, he will build a brand-new female hostel in the university which will help in providing conducive atmosphere for learning especially among the female students.
Earlier in his speech, the VC said the management of the University were in his office in order to thank and appreciate what he has done to the University in the past, adding that the Fisheries and Aquaculture Laboratory, and the Soil Science Laboratory he donated to the University has been of great importance in training the students of the Faculty of Agriculture.
He said the federal government and its agencies especially TETFund are doing their best for the University but the University management need to compliment government efforts by looking for alternative source of funding.
He said one of the challenges facing FUD is accommodation, especially females’ accommodation adding that most parent from this part of the country are not comfortable with their female children staying off campus.
The VC told the business mogul that the university would be grateful if he intervenes in the provision of accommodation.
Meanwhile, Alhaji A.A. Rano has since sent a four-man team to inspect the site for the construction of the new hostel.
