A short video allegedly showing the abducted passengers of the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) has appeared online.
Niger State government said on Tuesday that ten of the passengers had regained freedom but gave no details.
Over 30 of the abducted passengers, including women and children were shown in the video, which was seen by Dateline Nigeria on Tuesday.
The passengers pleaded with the people of Niger State to pay the N500m ransom being demanded by their abductors so as to regain their freedom.
Some bandits wielding AK-47 rifles and a rocket propelled grenades can be seen boasting they can’t be defeated by government.
The bandits, who threatened to ‘condemn’ their captors if their demand is not met, could be heard saying ‘We are over 200 here’, ‘record our video, we live in the bushes, not cities’, ‘tell them to stop harrassing us’.
Security agencies have yet to comment on the video.
