Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has presided over the State Executive Council where two major infrastructure projects – super highway and flyover – were approved in Yola.
The super highway will cover 20.8-kilometres, starting from Welcome to Yola-Rumde Killa to Army Barrack Junction in Yola. The project is estimated to cost N21.8 billion and is expected to be completed within 30 months.
The purpose of the highway, according to the government, is to improve transportation and reduce traffic congestion, boosting socioeconomic activities in the State.
The flyover bridge:is to be built at Mubi Roundabout in Jimeta–Yola. “This flyover project is budgeted at N9.2 billion and is slated to be completed within 18 months,” a statement from the government said.
Furthermore, the council also approved the construction of a warehouse within the Government House Yola, with a storage capacity of 7800 metric tonnes, and will be used to store rice and similar grains.
The contract was granted to Medugu Commercial and Construction Company at a cost of N291 million.
“The warehouse’s purpose is to protect and safeguard government property and prevent unauthorized individuals from vandalizing it, especially during times of palliative distribution or emergencies,” it added.
