First Lady Aisha Buhari is not pregnant, one of her aides has said.
Suleiman Haruna was reacting to rumours circulating on social media suggesting that the president’s wife may be expecting a baby.
Dateline Nigeria reports that the rumour was started after the presidency released pictures showing President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife upon return from the Turkey-Africa summit in Istanbul.
Sulaiman Haruna told BBC News Pidgin that the first lady was neither sick nor pregnant, adding that rumours of cancer or pregnancy was just mischief.
“I will tell you 100 percent that our First Lady is perfectly okay and does not have any disease or pregnancy as some are reporting.
“Some of the reports are just from mischief makers who do not mean well, you know nowadays can manipulate photos,” Sulaiman said.
Aisha Buhari, 50, and President Muhammadu Buhari, 79, are already blessed with five children.
