Aishatu Adam Hussaini wins 2023 BBC Hausa story competition

Aishatu Adam Hussaini has emerged the overall winner of the BBC Hausa Short Story Writing Competition tagged: “Hikayata”.

She won the contest with her story titled ‘Rina a Kaba’ and was awarded a cash prize of N1 million at a well-attended event on Thursday evening at the International Conference Centre Abuja.

Aisha Aisha Abdullahi Yabo came second and was awarded N750,000 for her story titled ‘Bakin Kishi”. While Aisha Sani Abdullah came third and won a cash prize of N500,000 for her story titled ‘Tuwon Kasa’.

Earlier in his remark, the Head of BBC Hausa Service in Nigeria, Malam Aliyu Abdullahi Tanko said the 2023 the competition is meant to empower women and give them a platform to excel.

Dignitaries at the event included the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruk II, former Nasarawa State Governor Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura, Minister of Housing Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman (Mr La), and Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila.

Others included Wike of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda, Wife of APC National chairman, Hafsat Ganduje and wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
