The coalition of Quranic memorisers and reciters (Almajirai) from the 36 states in Nigeria and Africa has called on President Bola Tinubu to, as a matter of necessity, consider former Governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda, for appointment as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor or a Minister.
Director of Education under the auspicies of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation Sheikh Sayyadi Aliyu Sise Dahiru Bauchi stated this today in Bauchi during a press conference.
He said he personally went round the country and beyond where he met with many Qur’anic memorisers and reciters in Nigeria and they recognised Yuguda as the best among both former and present governors with a high regard and respect for Almajiri pupils.
“We support Yuguda, because he supported us, he carried us along, he honoured the learners and teachers of the book of Allah Holy Qur’an.
“When people were showing stigmatisation to Almajiri, Yuguda embraced them, we also embrace him, we are appealing to President Tinubu to do the right thing at a right time and appoint Yuguda Central Bank Governor or a Minister for the success of his administration”
He said Yuguda, as governor of Bauchi State, earmarked and released N55m monthly and about 20 cars to take care of Almajiri both their teachers and pupils.
Sayyadi said Yuguda, considering his political weight and popularity coupled with the significant role he played in the 2023 general election to ensure that Tinubu got the required percentage in the state and other states in the North-east sub-region, is qualified to get the position.
He said as a former Minister of Transportation and Aviation, and two-term governor, Yuguda has what it takes to be the representative of the people of the state and Nigeria.
“The choice of Yuguda by Almajirai is due to the fact that he has transformed the lives of many citizens of Bauchi State when he was the state governor without discrimination.
“We also wish to state that if the president wants to succeed he should honour the person that honours the book of Allah, and if he want his party the All Progressives Congress (APC) to grow, develop and be maintained and sustained in Bauchi State and beyond, Yuguda is the right person to do that for him,” he said.
